About this wine from

Veneto, Italy

The three wine regions in the north-eastern corner of Italy are often referred to as the Tre Venezie — the Three Venices — because they were once part of the Venetian Empire. Each of these regions produces red and white wines that are among the most popular Italian wines enjoyed outside of Italy. Veneto, the fifth-largest region in Italy, was part of the Roman Empire until the 5th century AD. The region’s capital city Venice ruled for centuries over one of the largest and richest maritime trade empires in the world and was the birthplace of Marco Polo the renowned explorer. The region is protected from the harsh northern European climate by the Alps, the foothills of which form Veneto's northern extremes. These cooler climes are ideally suited to white grape varieties such as the Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio.
