Following the fermentation process our Barbera D’Asti is aged for six months in French oak casks and presents itself with a sparkling ruby red colour in the glass, unfolding its seductive bouquet with fruit aromas of dark berries and sour cherries. On the palate, this red wine is soft and elegant — try it with any classic Italian dish or even lightly chilled with a salad or antipasti.

About this wine from

Piedmont, Italy

Barbera d’Asti is one of the most famous wines from the Piedmont region of north-western Italy. The vineyards are situated in the hilly areas around the town of Asti which is also famed for its sparkling wine. The region’s number one grape variety is the Barbera as it lends itself very well to the terrain and climate of the region producing a soft round easy drinking red wine. The region became a DOC in 1970 and was upgraded to its DOCG classification in 2008. The DOCG is the highest classification of Italian wine and was introduced in 1980 to identify some of Italy’s top wines and so far to date there are only 74 that have been awarded this status. This places this wine in the company of some of the greats such as Barolo, Brunello di Montalcino and Amarone.
