The blend of Colombard, Corbu and Sauvignon give this wine a fantastic balance of fruitiness, acidity and a subtle sweetness making it a worthy partner to our flagship red.

A fresh and easy-drinking wine
Gascogne is the home of Alexandre Dumas of ‘the Three Musketeers’ fame so it is only fitting that this is where our Chevalier de Bayard blanc comes from. The region is famed for not only its swashbuckling adventurers but for some of France’s great gastronomy such as confit duck and foie gras. The region is located in South Western France and its viticultural history stretches back over 1,000 years not only in producing still wines but also Armagnac. Before the 1970’s the region’s wines were classified as very average and did not meet the quality for the export market. More recently, through investment, the wine-makers have revolutionised their processes and this has transformed the region’s wines with a number of areas achieving A.O.P. status such as Madiran and Saint Mont. Many of the wines are still produced using the local grape varieties such as Corbu, Colombard, Gross Manseng and Petit Menseng but other varieties such as Sauvignon (from Bordeaux) and Chardonnay (from Burgundy) are now being planted.
Goes well with Mediterranean seafood dishes, shellfish, pasta and applewood smoked cheddar.
