This big powerful Aussie red, from our Leonard’s range, will delight all fans of Australian wines. Its name allegedly comes from the small hill in the shadow of Mount Leonard known locally as Leonard’s Bastard. Our winemaker took his inspiration from this and made this gorgeous ‘Bastard’ blend of Shiraz and Viognier, an interesting combination of a white and red grape variety.

Unlike normal procedures of blending the finished products to achieve the perfect wine, in this case the grapes were combined before being pressed so the juice benefited from resting on the skins extracting the maximum amount of colour and flavours. The Viognier adds a hint of peach and apricot to the spicy pluminess of the full-bodied Shiraz, a new taste experience.
