In the glass, the wine shimmers amber yellow with orange reflections. The aroma spectrum is broad and includes ripe apple, candied fruit, intense orange zest, citrus notes as well as spicy, peppery notes. The finely integrated tannins harmonise perfectly with the fruity aromas and give the wine substance, complexity and a long-lasting finish.

A special cuvée of Auxerrois and Chardonnay with a share of Scheurebe

About this wine from

Nahe, Germany

This wine is a special cuvée of Auxerrois and Chardonnay with a share of Scheurebe. After harvesting the fully ripe grapes in autumn, a spontaneous maceration took place for part of the grapes. The remaining grapes were fermented as whole clusters over a period of about two months (maceration carbonique) – a traditional process that was already used in ancient times. Both processes release additional aromas and colouring substances from the skins, which give the wine its special colour and character. The wine was aged and matured for six months, partly in wooden barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks.

The Orange Wine is a wine with storage potential and goes perfectly with fish dishes and seafood, whereby we particularly recommend a bouillabaisse.

Pieroth Estate

The Pieroth family’s estate, located in the very centre of the village of Burg Layen, is an inspiring place packed with history. The Pieroth family settled in the Nahe region back in 1675 and started to sell great wines at the beginning of the 20th century. At the confluence of the Rhine and the Nahe, in the magical triangle formed by the wine-producing regions of Rheingau, Rheinhessen and Nahe, various terroirs come together in a way unlike anywhere else in Germany. There are 180 varieties of soil in the tightest possible space here. This is unique in Germany and rare even in Europe.
